I was inspired to write this poem Our Windrush Arrival, to clelebrate Windrush Day 2022. I imagined a young girl arriving in England with her family after a long journey across the Atlantic from Southampton. I knew if i were that child i would be full of wonder and fair, but I also knew if my parents were there the first thing they would do is pray.
This is a quick poem - it only took five minutes or so, and I hoped I captured the sentiment of the occasion.
